Price
The price of my magazine will range from £2.00 - £2.50, this will include a free give away and will got towards the next issue of the magazine. I have chosen this price as I understand that college life is expenzive as it is and students won't be able to afford much. I also chose this price as I thought it was reasonable prive to be asked to be paid, it's not over three pound so people will get value for there money.
The magazine will be issued every month, one for each month and will feature others for that months college party such as; free drink or discount ticket. I thought that by issuing it every month people wouldn't get tired of hearing about the same old things and would get an update on what was happening in that month at college. It would feature new stories about things that have happened in the previous month or even features that are happening that month.

LIIAR Analysis of a Content Page
Language: This content page shows a lot of conventions of a typical content page of a magazine. The font of the content page is bold and attracts the attention of the audience; it explains clearly what the magazine will feature. The image on the content relates to the magazine itself, it shows an image of the college this links the two aspects of the magazine together by using a similar image which relates. The content page includes page numbers which are almost always used on a content page; they work as indicators to a particular feature in the magazine. The content page also includes various language techniques; this is used when a metaphor or play on words is used to make the audience wonder what the features about with a funny or catchy title. The content page has a title to introduce a next page and separate the front page from the content page. The content page runs into a colour scheme which reflects the front page and identifies it as part of the same magazine, it also gives the magazine a professional look and helps the audience to think of it as a professional magazine.
Ideology: The magazine is aimed to promote a new college opening. This is reflected really well in the images used both on the splash and the content page. It also attracts the audience to what the magazine’s main features is also with the use of relevant images. By having an image of a typical college student it reflects the type of magazine this is aimed at, it’s aimed at students with students in mind and the use of a student reflects this. Also the image of the student is larger than the image of the college this could mean the college has the student in mind and is there to help the student rather than the student helping the college. The image of the student dominates the page and the image of the college is round like the college focuses around the students and their best interests. The colour scheme is kind of space like meaning that the college is out of this world and the catchy titles to features really relates to that idea, helps it become more real in a language based way.
Institution: This content page looks like it’s been made by a student at the college, it looks this way as the colour scheme is quite childlike, fun and exciting. The magazine looks well informed which gives the idea that the college are the ones in charge of the production process, also a lot of the features are accurate which also gives the idea that the college are once again in charge of the production process.
Audience: The magazine is aimed at Wyke college students who have a particular interest in what’s happening throughout the college. It also mentions a feature about University applications this could suggest that the college is aiming at 2nd year students or 3rd years as well as the 1st years. This magazine is aimed at everyone in the college. The features in the magazine suggest that the magazine is for students who are thinking about enrolling, as the magazine gives a guided tour of the media suites. This magazine will be very popular with a wide target audience involved
Representation: This magazine is aimed at a lot of students in general. It includes an image of the college is very well laid out with features aimed at a wide target audience, for students already enrolled and students who are considering enrolling.
LIIAR Analysis of a Front Cover
Language: This magazine shows a lot of conventions of a typical magazine. It has a masthead a main image and main features; it also has a date and price which gives the image a more professional feel, professional of a typical magazine. The writing in the magazine is sans serif without flicks at the end of the letters; this gives the font a bolder centre stage. The cover lines are positioned in the left third which is also typical of a magazine as the magazines left third is always showing on the magazine stand so that you can see the sorts of stories featured in the magazine. The magazine also has a skyline which often attracts people to one important feature, this magazine is a sports magazine and the skyline relates to a global sports event so has relevance to the magazine specific. The magazines image is of an American football player, on a sports magazine this is relevant, it attracts the reader straight away and is recognisable as a sports magazine. The magazine also uses a flash which is sometimes used to attract the reader to a promotion or offer, this one advertises another story in the magazine.
Ideology: The magazine is a sports magazine and the image represents this, the American footballer shows that the magazine is from American as American football originates from America. Also the footballer is an American footballer called ‘Peyton Manning’ who was successful this could suggest that the magazine is also successful and that it’s of good quality with the use of a quality player. There is also a picture of a Chicago bull’s player this could suggest that the magazine is connected to big sports teams and could promote the team; this could mean that the magazine has a lot of professional links. Having the barcode also gives the magazine a professional feel.
Institution: This is a college magazine (college sports) the people in charge of the magazine’s production process. This gives the magazines more of a personal connection to the college; the students will feel like the magazine is more genuine if the college has been in charge of the production process, they’ll feel the features in it are correct in terms of information. If the college have been in charge of the production process there won’t be need for many edits as the college will be able to use the correct information without outside companies getting the information for the features wrong.
Audience: The magazine is for sports students or students from a college who are interested in sports. The magazine’s features are sports stories of sports stars so this magazine is aimed at people who are interested in what’s happening in the sports media and what’s happening on the college campus to do with sports. This is different from a college magazine because a college magazine mainly aims at everything happening on campus not just the sports aspect so this college magazine may be from a college which focuses just on sports (a sports college).
Representation: This magazine is aimed at sports college students, it’s represented with a sports star this could mean that the sports college expects there students to be of a high standard.
LIIAR Analysis of a Front Cover
Language: This magazine shows a lot of the conventions of a magazine. The font is sans serif meaning the font is without flicks, I think it makes the text more bold and attractive. There is one big image on the splash, this image represents a typical college student and the style of his clothes may show how relaxed college life is. The cove lines are positioned in the left third which is typical of cover lines, cover lines often highlight features and because there positioned on the left third there seen when placed on a magazine stand this attracts the reader to the cover lines and can often be selling points to the magazine. The magazine also has a skyline this can often be sub features of the magazine, features which are covered in the magazine, this magazine has one to highlight the fact it’s “Hip Hot & Happening” this is typical of student slang and a cool catchy slogan which relates to the target audience. The magazine also includes a ‘flash’ this is used to highlight a feature with a graphic, this graphic is bright and colourful which will attract the audience to that feature of the magazine this ‘flash’ does it’s purpose of offering promotions or something (in this case) happening at the college. On the ‘splash’ there’s a price and a barcode which is typical of a magazine, it makes the magazine more professional by having this. The price is used to tell students how much the magazine will cost and the barcode is an electronic tag which often shows information about the magazine or product.
Ideology: The image on this magazine suggests that the person is happy to be at the college, also he seems relaxed with the clothing he’s wearing and his body posture also has the same effect, it suggests the college is laid back with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Also his smile suggests that he’s happy to be at the college, this may suggest that the college is a happy environment and a good positive place to be. However the image’s mise- en- scene suggests the college is all these things but it is a place to learn, by adding mise- en- scene the image now illustrates its purpose of further education with the opportunity to learn. The image is also an image of a person of mixed race, I think they’ve used a person of mix race to show how the college offers an education for people of all types of people from many different race and religious backgrounds, and this gives the college a friendly feel. The image is a medium shot which shows the waist up, by using this shot the reader can interpret many different things about the college and the type of people of go there.
Institution: The College who use this magazine will be the people in charge of the production. If a magazine for a specific company, college or school they should be in charge of the magazine production process as they know most about the college and how they run. This adds a personal touch to what there trying to promote and they’ll be a lot more of a professional aspect to the magazine if the college itself has produced it. By being in charge of your own magazine it gives a personal touch to the magazine and the read may believe in what you trying to promote or sell, they’ll believe all the information given as it’s written or the production process is more realistic. The magazine will have more of a understanding of the college if they have been in charge of the production process.
Audience: This magazine is for college students who need to know about events happening on campus. The people will read the magazine and will know about dates and times of when a specific event is happening, a specific day or maybe a party. This fulfils the college’s needs as it’s a creative way of contacting there students in a way in which the students will like and relate to. Students of college age like reading magazines so this will appeal to the target audience in a way in which won’t bore them and will interest them.
Representation: This magazine is for college students it’s represented with an image of a typical college student holding books. This student looks happy to be at the college this gives of a positive impression of the college and may make others also feel happy to go to the college.
